In 2007, only 2.6 per cent of nearly 29.2 million tonnes of organic waste generated in North America was recovered due to inefficient collection processes.

There is a relatively unknown and enormous opportunity to be exploited within the myriad of change being pursued to develop renewable energy sources. The challenge is understanding the true value of that opportunity to transcend the policy hurdle and foster a change in behaviour.
